Judgement Day: Pop Heaven or Hell? Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP live on iTunesFestival!

For those of us who follow pop music closely, it seems that Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP has been almost too long-a-time coming. Gaga has never been great at keeping secrets, so while she was practically still in the middle of promoting her last album: Born This Way, she revealed the name of her next album, which at the time, was expected to be released by the end of 2012. An unfortunate and near devastating hip injury, a partially-cancelled (very expensive) tour, a seeming public backlash and a whole lot of delays later, Gaga is back in the spotlight with a new single, and just finished playing an opening slot at the iTunes Festival in London, having played seven never-before-heard tracks from the the much abuzzed ARTPOP, ahead of it’s November 11th release date.

How was her first concert performance, post-injury? How did the newly debuted ARTPOP tracks fare at the gates of Pop Heaven? You’ll have to read on to find out, and you can even watch the performance and decide for yourself!

Stop the In-Stan-ity!! (An Intervention)

Stans of the World (and other interested parties),

We gather here today and everyday to rejoice in the word of the Church of Pop. It is my honor to have been chosen by The Pop Gods to spread the righteous word and while much of my experience has been positive since I began preaching the Pop Gospel last November, I have to say that the amount of bullshit (for lack of a better term) that is thrown between fanbases is completely ridiculous and quite frankly off-putting. For branding purposes and as an excuse to spend countless hours making some digital art, I will call this phenomenon:

Judgement Day (Special Edition): “Go to Pop Hell!” (Some of) The Worst of 2011!

For the first time since PopMessiah.com was conceived this past October, Judgement Day will delive into the mysterious world of Pop Hell!

Don’t be afraid, Pop Hell isn’t exactly a terrifying place but moreso one that is very hard to take seriously. In addition to eternal fires and barren landscapes, in Pop Hell you’re very likely to find the following:

  • Unlikeable, annoying or offensive Pop Culture personalities and others that are just too cheesy or ridiculous to be tolerated.
  • Super awful/shameful TV shows
  • Terrible trainwreck movies that we love to hate!
  • Novelty songs (i.e. Macarena, The Ketchup Song, Cotton-Eyed Joe)
  • Neon Clothing
  • and last but not least – occasional blunders from our faves! This doesn’t mean that we here at PopMessiah.com truly think these artists are awful, just that they are human and occasionally make big, stinky, steaming mistakes from time to time which honestly, someone needs to tell them the truth about lest they continue to think that sort of thing is ok.

The following is a list of some of the more popular additions (many of which are from our faves…) to Pop Hell from 2011! May we never speak of them again!

Judgement Day (Special Edition): Pop Heaven’s Top 100 Songs of 2011 (Part 3 of 4)

Oh hey! So we meet again…

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s Eve. I partied it up with friends, got a little too tipsy and got home at about 5:00am. There was great food and great fun, amazing music, an incident involving honey roasted peanuts and sparkling wine and a booby trapped Big Mac. A word to the wise: Even if you, too have watched and re-watched a classic SNL “Sully & Denise” skit, don’t ever do it unless you want your champagne to explode all over your crotch. All in all – a regular Saturday night! 😉

You, however, aren’t here to find out about my wild night ringing in 2012, are you!? No way! You’re here to find out who made The Pop Gods Top 50 songs of 2011!

In case you’re just joining us:
Read entries 100 through 75 in Part 1!
Read entries 74 through 50 in Part 2!

We left off with some of you drooling ever-s0-slightly over the sinewy torso of Mr. Adam Levine as he slinked around with his “Moves Like Jagger”. Let’s see what the top half of our year-end countdown has to offer…
