The Glee-kly Recap: 5 Episodes Until “Goodbye” and We’re a little “Choke”d Up!

Hola Gleeks!

Another week is upon us and I come to the realization today that there are only 5 episodes left until the end of the season, including tonight’s all new episode “Choke”. The previews have let us know that this week we will meet Puck’s father so we may get a rare Puck-centric story. I’ve also peeked at the tracklisting and checked out one of the First Listen Friday recordings and someone will be doing one of my very favorite songs by the Church of Pop’s Lady of Broken Hearts: Kelly Clarkson. Needless to say, I am stoked.

In case you didn’t catch last week’s Whitney Houston tribute… (Here’s what you missed, on GLEE!)

Let’s get on with it, then?

The Glee-kly Recap: With “On My Way” Glee gets REAL!

Welcome back Gleeks! The winter finale has arrived and it’s being touted as a shocking, game changer! We all know there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that New Directions are going to lose at Regionals so what could the shocker be? If you read last week’s Glee-kly Recap, you’ll know what my theory is but I’ve been wrong oh-so many times before. If you haven’t read it:

(Here’s What You Missed, on GLEE!)

Let’s dive in, shall we?

The Glee-kly Recap: Gleeks Get a “Heart” On for Valentine’s Day!

Welcome back Gleeks! Some of you may have noticed that I missed out on recapping the last episode of Glee: “The Spanish Teacher. Forgive me Pop Gods for I have sinned. I didn’t get a post up for that episode for the following reasons:

  • An unfortunate head cold had me incapacitated and heavily medicated throughout most of the week, which contributed to a lack of energy and drive. Add to that a local transit strike and a 45 minute to an hour walk both to and from work each day. No fun!
  • The tragic death of legendary diva Whitney Houston on 2/11/2012 truly affected and upset me. (See Post)
  • The episode (outside of the immaculate beauty of Ricky Martin) was pretty CRAPPY and uninspiring. The only thing that happened of significance is that Will Schuster is no longer McKinley High’s spanish teacher and he’s now going to be teaching History class. (P.S. I will probably go back and write a recap during an upcoming, devastatingly long hiatus but we’ll get to that in about 3400 words. I don’t play around.)

Luckily this week we have LOTS to talk about! So let’s get to it!

The Glee-kly Recap: It’s an “Extraordinary Merry Christmas” but WHERE is Sugar Motta? (also My Word Count Drops SIgnificantly…)

When we last left off on Glee, we pulled a Tabula Rasa (Clean Slate) and un-did pretty much everything that’s happened in Season 3 thus far. The gang are all back together (after that large group hug) and it’s the Christmas episode so obviously we’re not about to have any major plot points thrown in! This should be a nice one-off storyline kind of episode.

As last week’s recap clocked in at over 3600 words (my longest ever), I’ve realized that I have a problem with being long-winded. I will put extra effort into making this one a bit more “Coles Notes” as a friend suggested rather than writing a piece longer than the original script!

Here goes nothing…

The Glee-kly Recap: It’s Ladies’ Night, Gleeks! (oh yeah, Election Day too!)

It’s been only two weeks since the last new episode of Glee aired, but to this Gleek it feels like a lifetime. How about you?

Tonight, Glee returned on FOX to the delight of Gleeks everywhere who were left devastated by the events that took place in the amazing but intense final five minutes of Season 3′s sixth episode: “Mash Off”. If you don’t recall, our favorite still-in-the-closet, tough-as-nails, Cheerios Captain: Santana was faced with being an unfortunate casualty of a political slur campaign which is about to result in her being outed on a television spot to her entire hometown. To add insult to injury, she’s hardly come to terms with being a lesbian herself, let alone admitted it to her family. Her inner conflict and anger are all directed at a Mr. Finn Hudson – who called her out on her repressed sexuality in the hallway at school and unfortunately someone overheard and started this whole mess resulting in one hell of a slap in the face at last episode’s conclusion.

On top of furthering Santana’s story arc, this episode also promises to bring two of this season’s main storylines to a head. It’s a double election day! We will see the race for McKinley High’s Senior Class President and the Congressional Race come to a close. Who will win? How will the losers take it? It’s a nail-biter, folks. A NAIL-BITER!!!

An early synopsis of the episode also states that the Puck/Quinn/Shelby storyline becomes more complicated and that there’s some sort of “shocking” event that will complicate New Directions’ chances to compete at Sectionals. Read on for my reactions, opinions and general musings about Glee’s latest episode: “I Kissed A Girl”.

(As always, and I’m sure you all realize this, there are many many spoilers after the break. You’ve been warned.)
